As vehicles get smarter, govt plans to thwart hijackings, roll out software update norms

India’s road transport ministry is introducing mandatory cybersecurity and software update rules for advanced vehicles. Starting October, new models with Level-3 automation and above will need to comply, followed by existing models and then vehicles with over-the-air update capabilities. This proactive measure addresses the growing threat of cyberattacks on increasingly connected cars, ensuring safer journeys for all.
